Big congratulations to Colorado artist, Derrick Velasquez for being recognized as one of this year's recipients of the acclaimed Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grants!

Historically important Abstract Expressionist painter, Joan Mitchell, gave personal support to other innovative artists during her lifetime. Her generosity continued after her death with the formation of the Joan Mitchell Foundation, which was created to assist distinctive and dedicated contemporary artists. Past recipients of the grant include: Nicole Eisenman, Glenn Ligon, and Byron Kim, just to name a few.
