Robischon Gallery congratulates multidisciplinary artist, Elena Dorfman on her latest important achievement, the experimental film, πβπ π·ππππ & πβπ πΏππ - a multi-channel installation exploring the deep, filmic history of Albaniaβs authoritarian past. Gaining early and impressive institutional recognition - most recently presented at NYβs George Eastman Museum, and last Spring at L.A.βs Hammer Museum, the film is also scheduled to be presented September 12th at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.β a reflection of Dorfmanβs ever expanding, noteworthy practice.
Constructed entirely from archival footage from the Albanian National Film Archive, πβπ π·ππππ & πβπ πΏππ is the three-channel cinematic work composed from more than 70 feature and documentary propaganda films. Through a deeply personal exploration of her Albanian American identity, Dorfman transforms historical material into a powerful meditation on art, ideology, power, media manipulation, and the enduring tension between artistic expression and authoritarianism.
