ISABELLE HAYEUR / Bilpin International Grounds for Creative Initiatives
Canadian artist Isabelle Hayeur - whose video piece entitled "Solastalgia" is now on view through Saturday, January 23rd at Robischon Gallery - is presently an artist in residence at the Bilpin International Ground for Creative Initiatives in Australia. Roughly an hour and a half from Sydney, Big Ci is a remote, independent, artist-run residency program situated on the edge of Wollemi National Park - a UNESCO world heritage site.
Attracted to zones that disclose a story of human meddling, Hayeur has been exploring Wollemi National Park recently, taking photographs of a ghostly gray visage that now lines the banks of the Wollangambe River - the result of a coal waste spill in the Summer of 2015.
