EXHIBITION NOTES
David Kroll
Nov 10 – Dec 21, 2011
Recognized for his psychological still life paintings, David Kroll proffers each work as a kind of meticulously constructed refuge; an allusion to humankind’s desire for closer contact with the Natural world. Environmentally conscious, the artist states that through his work he strives to “add balance, order and beauty to a world that is weighted in the opposite.” Kroll’s symbolic creatures, which serve as a kind of messenger or guide, are often in relationship to delicate porcelain bowls, carefully woven nests or other natural objects such as small fragile eggs or an ephemeral spider’s web. Each element furthers the narrative in the artist’s visual theater by engaging the viewer toward investigation of the preciousness of life’s interconnectedness
