EXHIBITION NOTES
Jim Colbert : The Long View
Jul 30 – Sep 17, 2005
Robischon Gallery is pleased to present Colorado artist Jim Colbert's paintings which examine the relationship between self and place. Attracted to the marks humankind leaves on the landscape, Colbert explores the relationship between human needs and desires and the natural order of the earth. More than a collection of vistas or travel mementos, the artist's images recall a sense of those who came before or currently reside on the land. Colbert's images form a dramatic but unsentimental view; an expression of the qualities of place, while offering a direct relationship to the viewer.
A native of Washington State, Jim Colbert received his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado. Colbert's work has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Center for Visual Arts in Denver, Colorado, the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Colorado History Museum, and the Foothills Art Center, Golden, Colorado. His work can be found in numerous public and private collections including UMB Bank and the City and County of Denver's Red Rocks Visitor's Center.
