ANA MARIA HERNANDO | "Undomesticated" Documentary by Amie Knox

The new documentary film on Robischon Gallery artist Ana Maria Hernando, by Amie Knox and A Bar K Productions, premiers Thursday, May 3rd at Sie Center, Denver Film Society (2510 East Colfax Avenue) at 6pm with a reception to follow.

Cross cultural themes, both socio-political and spiritual are woven throughout Hernando's work, whose creative vocabulary incorporates drawing, painting, textile, and installation as their ground. The artist expands upon her poetic process, “Flowers are my inspiration. They are sensual, delicate, quiet and beautiful....the utmost expression of the plant. Flowers appear as layers and the layers of my paintings arise in me as flowers unfolding. The vulnerability and vibration in them startle me awake. I find these flowers in my garden, in the embroidered mantones of the Spanish women, my grandmothers. They seduce me and compel me to move the brush."
